Here is your comprehensive guide on how to setup JJ Absolute. The most up to date version of this guide can always be viewed by going to http://www.joomlajunkie.com/temp_guides/jj-absolute/.

Step 1.) Installing the Template

  1. Login to Joomla Admin
  2. Go to "Installers > Template Site"
  3. Browse for the template zip file
  4. Click "Upload File and Install"
  5. Click "Continue..."
  6. In the Template Manager, select the new template's radio box and click on the "Default" button (top right).

** The template will now be successfully installed, so you can proceed to Step Two to configure the admin.

Step 2.) Installing the needed Modules.

  1. First we need to install the necessary modules, so still in the Joomla Admin select "Installers > Modules" from the top menu.
  2. Click on "Browse" and navigate to the Modules Directory. First we will start with the Instant Search, so Select "mod_shep.zip", click "OK" then "Upload File & Install".
  3. You should now see the "Upload Module - Success" page. Click "Continue...".
  4. Next we are going to follow the same procedure as with the Instant Search, but this time selecting the "Mod_Exmenu.zip".
  5. You should once again see the "Upload Module - Success" page.

Step 3.) Setting the module positions and module options.

  1. Now click on "Modules > Site Modules" from the top navigation. We need to make sure all the modules are published to the correct module positions and set the module options where necessary.
  2. First we are going to click on the tick box under the "Module Manager" heading, which will select all the modules in the list. To start off with a clean slate, unpublish all the modules and then we will only publish the ones that are needed. Once all modules are selected, click on the "Unpublish" button (top right).
Module Settings
  1. Extended Menu
    • Disable the Module Title (Show Title: No).
    • Publish the module.
    • Set the "Menu Class Suffix" and "Module Class Suffix" both to "-topnav".
    • Option 14 ("Menu Style") Set to "Tree List" - This is important for the drop down menu items.
    • Option 17 ("Expand Menu") Set to "Yes"
  2. Shep search module - Publish, Set to "User3" and disable the Module Title (Show Title: No). Save.
  3. Login Form - Publish and set to the "Left" Module Positon. Set the "Module Suffix" to "-login".
  4. Polls (If wanted) - Publish and Set to to "Left".
  5. Who's Online (If wanted) - Publish and Set to to "Left".
  6. Newsflash (Green or Orange Feature Boxes)
    • Disable Title
    • Set "Module Position" to "Inset"
    • Publish
    • Select Category Source

Points to mention..

If no modules are assigned to the "Left" Module Position the left sidebar will automatically collapse, allowing for
the full content area to be used.

The templates most important feature is its configuration file, located in the templates root directory. The file
you need to edit is called "TemplateConfig.php". Dont worry, the file is laid out with full instructions so its just
selecting which options you would like to use. This is where the true power lies, letting you choose whether you
want the sidebar on the left or right, whether to use the slideshow header, which images to use, whether to use the
standard joomla footer or your own custom, etc etc etc. Take a look and let us know what you think ;)

THATS IT!! We hope you like the fruits of our labour (if you can call doing what you love "labour" :D)
